Reusable LED Lightbulbs

The challenge is enormous

LED lightbulbs last longer and consume less power than traditional bulbs but are ready for the landfill after they blow out, so the 'BrightYolk' bulb features a replaceable light module to deter this.

Currently being funded as part of a campaign on Kickstarter, the 'BrightYolk' bulb features a modular design that will allow users to replace individual parts of a bulb as they stop working. This includes the light module, but also the main body, the power module and the cover dome.

The focus on eco-friendly products is evident, but consumers are beginning to question the very design of these products. As such, the 'BrightYolk' lightbulb identifies an opportunity to help deter electronic waste from ending up in the landfill to offer consumers products that are supported through the entire product life cycle.
