Istobal is Committed to Sustainable Car Washing
Colin Smith — December 1, 2024Istobal has recently reinforced its commitment to sustainable innovation in car washing by publishing its latest Sustainable Performance Report. The report highlights the company's efforts to improve its operating practices, reduce its environmental footprint, and promote a more sustainable future. One of the key achievements mentioned is a 14% reduction in CO2 emissions, achieved through the implementation of more efficient technologies and the transition to renewable energy sources. Additionally, Istobal now obtains more than 18% of its electricity from self-consumption photovoltaic energy sources at its power plant.
The company has also focused on reducing water consumption in its car wash facilities. By implementing innovative recycling and treatment systems, Istobal has managed to save significant amounts of water. For instance, their recycling systems reuse up to 80% of the water used in each wash, which translates to an average saving of 128 litres of water per complete programme in rollovers. This commitment to water conservation is particularly important in regions facing water shortages and strict regulations on water use.
In addition to environmental efforts, Istobal is dedicated to continuous training and safety measures for its workforce. The company provided a total of 8,132 hours of training in the last year, ensuring that employees are well-equipped to handle the challenges of the sector. This holistic approach to sustainability, encompassing environmental, social, and governance principles, underscores Istobal's leadership in the car wash industry and its commitment to responsible growth.
