Next-Gen Geothermal Developments

Geothermal developments in Canada are advancing with DEEP Earth Energy and SLB's collaboration to create the nation's first next-generation geothermal project in southeast Saskatchewan. After completing the feasibility phase, "the project is set to generate approximately 30 MW of clean, baseload power once the first two phases are completed, marking a major milestone for geothermal energy."

Despite Canada's geothermal potential, traditional extraction methods have faced economic and technical challenges. DEEP's project will employ advanced horizontal drilling and techniques from the oil and gas industry to access productive geothermal zones.

SLB will "provide engineering and well construction services for both phases, including the development of two production and two injection wells in phase one, with plans for up to 18 wells in phase two—this approach will optimize geothermal energy production."
