Recyclable Paper Packaging Launches

UPM and Michelman Unite on the New Recyclable Paper Packaging

UPM Specialty Papers and Michelman have collaborated to introduce three recyclable, high-performance paper packaging structures. Each structure utilizes the power of UPM's advanced paper with Michelman’s innovative water-based coatings, enhancing barrier protection and recyclability.

The first structure is a high-barrier material crafted from UPM's Solide Lucent paper and Michelman's coatings. It provides robust resistance against oxygen and moisture vapor, making it ideal for preserving sensitive items like chocolate and coffee. For added convenience, it includes heat-sealing capabilities.

The second solution pairs UPM Asendo or UPM Asendo Pro papers with Michelman’s barrier coatings for frozen foods. The final solution leverages Michelman’s VaporCoat 2240 coating to improve the resistance to moisture and grease of UPM Asendo and UPM Asendo Pro papers.

All three packaging options have been tested and certified for recyclability under the PTS RH 021/97 Cat II standard, aligning with UPM and Michelman's commitment to sustainable packaging solutions.
