Sustainable Payment Card Designs

Infineon has released a new chip that will make contactless payment cards more eco-friendly, aligning with modern sustainability goals. Arriving initially in Europe, these new cards reduce the amounts of carbon dioxide used for production, helping Infineon reduce its environmental impact and appeal to an increasingly eco-conscious market. The cards do not require a copper wire antenna, which contributes to reduced material footprint, but also a streamlined recycling process for these options.

Overall, the cards offer a total of 60 grams of reduced CO_{2/sub> emissions per card. They also use a smaller antenna integrated into the module. After launching in Europe, Infineon plans to expand this product to the United States in the later half of the year.}
