Sustainable Hospitality Alliances
Global Hotel Groups Launch Responsible Procurement Initiative
Grace Mahas — September 24, 2024Leading hospitality companies have joined forces to create the Hospitality Alliance for Responsible Procurement (HARP), a groundbreaking initiative aimed at improving supply chain sustainability performance. Co-founded by Accor, Hilton, IHG Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International, and Radisson Hotel Group, along with global purchasing organizations Avendra and Entegra, HARP leverages EcoVadis' sustainability rating data to develop shared evaluation methodologies for key suppliers.
The alliance represents a significant step towards addressing the hospitality industry's environmental, social, and governance footprint through collaborative action. By focusing on procurement functions as the primary interface with supply chains, HARP aims to accelerate the adoption of sustainable practices across the sector. This initiative aligns with Accor's existing commitments, including its goal to eradicate single-use plastics in guest experiences and achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
