Upcycled Agave Leathers

Desserto, the creator of the world's first organic material made of Nopal cactus, is now introducing Desserto Agave as a new sustainable leather alternative. This material upcycled waste from Mexico's tequila industry and gives it new life as an alt leather made from agave fibers.

"Through this project, the agave-tequila production chain has the opportunity to join the fashion industry in a sustainable and responsible way,” says Desserto.

With its sustainable and innovative plant-based leather, Desserto has collaborated with some of the largest companies in the world to create everything from footwear and car seats to watch straps. Desserto Agave has the potential to make Mexico's tequila industry even more valuable by repurposing an abundant by-product into a practical material for a wide variety of uses beyond fashion.
