Alba Cheese Has Increased Its Commitment to the Environment

Authentic Italian dairy manufacturer Alba Cheese has recently pivoted its eco packaging strategy to include a special biodegradable wrap from Australian company BioGone.Eco products and biodegradable materials have been the focus of many companies as consumer consciousness about the environment intensifies and many demand sustainable practices.
BioGone has introduced an innovation that speeds up the process of biodegradation. The company adds a "proprietary organic additive to the plastic raw material." This agent does not alter the performance of the packaging in any way, "except for when it is disposed to a microbe-rich environment such as a landfill" where the "microbes see the food and start to digest it right away." Thus, the only by-product of Alba Cheese's biodegradable wrap packaging will be "biogas evolved and a biomass (humus) or plant fertilizer."
