PVC-Reduced Blister Packaging
Bayer Introduces Reduced-Impact PET Blister Packaging for Aleve
Kanesa D — November 6, 2024Bayer has introduced an innovative polyethylene terephthalate (PET) blister packaging for its brand Aleve. This packaging, developed in partnership with Liveo Research, has been engineered to reduce environmental impact substantially, achieving a 38 percent reduction in carbon footprint compared to conventional packaging.
By eliminating PVC, Bayer’s packaging simplifies the recycling process, allowing for greater compatibility with existing recycling infrastructure and helping to mitigate the environmental burdens associated with healthcare product waste. The new packaging update will be launched initially in the Netherlands.
“With the introduction of our PET one-material blister into Bayer’s Aleve product range, we’ve proven that more sustainable blister packaging is possible on a large, global scale,” says Liveo Research CEO Carsten Heldmann. “Waste and CO2 can already be saved today. As a specialized pharmaceutical packaging company, we will continue to support this industry to deliver their sustainability targets while complying with the strict regulatory requirements.”
